Telegram supports two layers of secure encryption. Cloud Chats use server-client encryption while Secret Chats use an additional layer of client-client encryption. To lock a chat go to Settings->Privacy and Security->Passcode Lock and enable it. Telegram Settings A further privacy blunder is that Telegram notifies your contacts when you join it — unless you don’t give it permission to access your contacts.
